the Circular Business Platform
to move your business forward, faster and better.
Welcome to the Circular Business Platform!
We are interested in building a solid foundation for circular businesses in Lagos and across Nigeria. We do this by offering access to knowledge, business opportunities, networks and resources that help support the growth of circular businesses in Nigeria.
How We Help Circular Businesses Thrive
Circular Entrepreneurship Peer Learning Community
The primary objective of this community is to develop a robust network of Circular Economy entrepreneurs who are at different stages of product development. This network will enable businesses to develop, test, validate, certify, and market their products more efficiently by sharing knowledge, experiences, and resources. The Circular Entrepreneurship Peer Learning Community is managed by the Circular Business Platform (CBP) and the Nigerian Climate Innovation Centre (NCIC).
The Circular Exchange
The Circular Exchange is an annual event focused on building opportunities for circular business and investment in Nigeria. We use the term “exchange” to imagine a future where information about circular business opportunity is easily accessible and trade between circular businesses is well established. As we still have some ways to work towards this goal, “exchange” also reflects our desire to work across different organisations to consider how we can make circular business and investment opportunities more accessible.
Circular Oasis Community
The Circular Oasis Community aims to build a talent pipeline for organisation in the sustainability and circular economy space by fostering learning and growth among enthusiasts and leaders, showcasing employment and business opportunities, guiding members in career development, cultivating thought leaders, and connecting students and young professionals with potential employers and mentors.
True Leaders Training Series
True Leaders Training Series is a capacity development programme designed to support waste recycling organisations that have interests in improving the coordination activities of businesses, estates managers to improve recycling rates and waste disposal processes. It involves an experiential learning session with follow-up e-activities and workshops.
Business Growth and Investment Forum
The Business Growth and Investment Forum focuses on delivering circular business and incubation services. With the goal of providing the highest possible quality of programming to businesses, the Forum works with local and regional partners to build and share learnings and create networking and funding opportunities for circular businesses.
Circular Products Catalogue
The Circular Products Catalogue is a tool designed to encourage circular procurement. This helps organisations and individuals identify and purchase products and services that are designed for circularity.
Snap Survey
Circular businesses rely on engaged communities that dispose of waste responsibly. Various organisations lead initiatives like community sensitization, cleanups, incentive schemes, and empowerment programs to promote responsible waste management. To determine the most effective strategies and learn from each other to enhance our engagements, Snap Surveys help by developing case studies on community engagement and producing research-based “how-to-guides” that share key learnings from these initiatives.
White Space Project
White Space Projects are designed to explore potential circular business opportunities and to identify collaborators and resources to mobilise these opportunities. White Space Projects are about imagining what is possible, recognizing what is feasible and pulling out all the stops to make it happen. Some themes being explored under the White Space Projects are: Circular Fashion, Circular Building Materials and Construction, Circular Sanitation, Glass Bottles for Upscale Restaurants, Alternative Packaging, Circular Business Model Development.
Policy Implementation Assessment
Lagos State Government is an advocate of the Circular Economy and is driving a number of initiatives at the policy and programme level to incentivize responsible waste management. One important policy is e-waste management regulation. The goal of this project is to monitor whether and how policy is implemented, to provide recommendations that will support compliance and to identify and facilitate opportunities to work with other stakeholders to meet regulatory goals.
